Defining Capacity Management Procedures is one of the main prerequisites for successful Capacity Management. These procedures define the relevant processes that must be followed and must be tailored to the specifics of the Service Engagement.

During the initial stages, the Capacity Manager must create the Technology Capacity Management Procedures by tailoring Capgemini’s standard procedures. Tailoring guidelines are used to tailor the standard processes to meet the needs of specific Client and/or Service Engagement.

Technology Capacity Management Procedure must cover how the support requests for technology capacity received from other streams should be managed and resolved by Capacity Manager. It must include how the technology capacity data should be monitored and analyzed for optimization and improvements identification and reported to relevant stakeholders, etc. The Capacity Manager must identify and engage stakeholders and finalize the organization structure. Roles and responsibility should be agreed. The required skill set and training needs for Technology Capacity Management must be identified at this stage and documented. Capacity Manager must understand the how the measurements for Technology Capacity Management will be defined and performance will be tracked and reported.

The Technology Capacity Procedures would ensure that the team and the stakeholders understand the process involved and expectations from Technology Capacity Management process. These procedures must get updated whenever the Client requirements change or when there is change in the standard process.
